This year at IAR, the seventh and eighth graders are reenacting the musical Peter Pan Jr. Peter Pan Jr. is a slightly shortened and revised version of the original Broadway play. It has some modified songs and shortened scenes so it is more appropriate for school purposes and younger voices. “We were trying to find a show that fit the kids we had, and we knew we had a lot of strong singers,” Mrs. McClain said.

Another advantage provided by this particular play is that it has more parts for the ensemble, compared to last year’s play which, had limited lines and roles for the ensemble.

The auditorium received a brand new lighting and sound system that will definitely add to the play this year. The advanced technology will be especially helpful because this year’s play will also include Tinker Bell, who is not a character but instead is a special effect. Some of the new upgrades the auditorium received

this year are color changing LED lights and a syc for the stage background. A syc is a backdrop that lets people project lighting in various colors. For more specifics go to the article “Auditorium Changes that Outshine--even Outsound--the Rest.”

Some of the main actors are Peter Pan, played by Ari Sussman; Wendy, played by Rita Kelly; John, played by Sean Shekhman; and Michael, played by Isabella Byfield.

We are really looking forward to this year’s play, directed by Mrs. Sanborn, who also directed Cinderella last year. In addition, Mrs. McClain will be directing the music and Mrs. Haber will act as producer. Information about how to buy the tickets which will be sold online will be released around February and performance dates are the sixteenth and seventeenth of March.
