Library Renovations

Have you noticed how different the library is this year? Or are you new to IAR, oblivious to the changes and renovations that have been done to the space? IAR’s media center has changed drastically over the course of the summer.

Last year, IAR’s media center looked much different than the library we have today. The presentation area was in the center of the library, with a projector that showcased the lessons and learning targets on a white screen. The new, modern tables and chairs that you see now were once plain and wooden. The presentation area has been shifted, and it has a very cool, high-tech SMART Board in place of the projector.

The carpet also changed over the summer from an ugly green color to a striped silver

color. In addition, the genres of the books relocated to different spots of the library. For example, the graphic novels moved from the lounge area to the corner where the makerspace is, and the historical fiction shelf moved from the area in front of the library classroom to being next to the realistic fiction shelf.

The library classroom has had a lot of adjustments as well. The two wooden doors changed to one wooden door on the side and a glass sliding door. The classroom also added new computers ranging from desktop computers to Macbook-Chromebook hybrids.

The library continues to change during the school year. New improvementsare added gradually, right under your

noses!The DIY makerspace has been renovated by adding a new table with USB ports and new chairs that are leather with wheels. If you noticed certain people walking around with customized buttons, then look no further than the DIY makerspace in the IAR library, where there is a button maker waiting for a creative mind to explore its skills. Moreover, mobile shelves, desks, and tables have been added to the rest of the library, and Smartboards are scattered all around the media center.

IAR’s media center improved drastically to provide you with the best library experience possible. More opportunities to explore your skills and abilities have been opened to every IAR student. The library has become newer, updated, and more efficient over the course of the summer and trimester one.
